You do not know the meaning of Uber

But DAF do. Let this German electropunk duo’s clicky beeps entrance into a world [or at the very least a basement] of mechanized taxidermy, dusty porcelain, cracked papier-mâché and moth-bitten lace. Here, sterile minimalism and granny frills co-exist in harmony, somehow.

George Harrison’s “Set on You” got nothing on this billow-shirted, leather-trousered alchemy of pop. Perhaps he was somehow inspired by it?

AHAH – I love DAF. Someome made this hilarious fan video for Der Mussolini and a few years ago they released a song called Der Sheriff, which I thought had a really well-done video. They’ve been around forever!

It’s videos like this that make me see I really missed my calling in life….

If this art/writing thing doesn’t work out I’m moving to Germany and starting an electropunkpolka band.

Our first video will take place in a beer garden during winter when it’s empty…heavy ice has formed all around…then a strong wind blows snow around forming it into ice sculptures of notorious Germans…then my band an I play our music on and around these sculptures…chipping and hacking away at them piece by piece …then finally crushing them to make assorted icy beverages and desserts…

    Yup…really missed my calling.

Though at some point I’d like to work in a giant flamethrower. Maybe that’s best for our second video.

That uber-ruled. Although, I will admit, for about three troubling seconds at the very beginning I did fear we were in for another round of this. Egads!
