Better Than Coffee: 8-Bit “Angel of Death” by Slayer

Bear with the somewhat sluggish posting schedule, folks. We’re slogging through last-minute corrections to the final proofs of Issue 02 and losing our minds in the process. I do mean that literally. Earlier tonight, poor Nadya sneezed and a big chunk of her frontal lobe fell out. I called her just now to discuss a kerning issue and the conversation went a little something like this. Meanwhile, Zoetica’s delicate alien grey matter has liquefied entirely from overexposure to laptop radiation. As for me, well, I’m having flashbacks of that one time I accidentally took ‘shrooms laced with bathtub LSD and ran out into traffic on the I-580 yelling “FLESH TETRIS, FLESH TETRIS, EVERYTHING FEELS LIKE MATH, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP THE FLESH TETRIS, STOPPIT, HNNNGH” until someone threw a tarp over my head.

It certainly doesn’t help that this 8-Bit version of “Angel of Death” has been lodged in my noggin for several days now.

Good morning, by the way.

(More musical 8-Bit sillypants after the jump.)

“Flesh Tetris” sounds like a great name for a band.

When you get a chance, post an update on when/how we can subscribe.

    Brilliant – great work!

Now I can’t decide if I want the Slayer as a ringtone, or the yappy dog. Also, I have no cellphone….

I was just thinking about how much I adore 8-bit music. No, really!

    Bangin’.

Ahh!! My cheeks hurt from laughing. The Benny Hill 8-bit theme at the end almost caused me to rupture something! Many thanks for these :D

Wow. That’s some good stuff. I had never seen Rick Astley 8-bit with vocals.
I actually like to listen chiptune inspired music quite often and I thought I could maybe share some of my more furious favorites:
USK – As vivid as Possible

    USK – Romeo vs Juliet

Tobiah – I love your music

    The Hardliner – Zoloft Blues

That’s for the starters. It’s actually morning when I read this, works truly better than coffee.

    Sweet.
The slayer one couldn’t help but remind me of when metalcore and chip music bore the lumpy yet tangy fruit that was Horse the Band. Chiptunes always seemed so well-suited to the more dance-y branches of music, but it’s still interesting to see them slowly work their way into more unexpected genres.

    8-bit jazz…
    NO… 8-bit polka…

    Want.

mmmm anymore parties planned for release number due?

  11. R. Says:

I think my brain needed that. :D

  12. Mer Says:

    Cheers, y’all.

Stephanie, unfortunately, I don’t think we’re going to swing a party for #02. We need to put some more money back in the piggy bank first.

I’ve been playing the Benny Hill one non-stop for the last few days now. It’s driving some around here quite mad.

    It’s glorious.

I’ve even sent it in a few emails. Repeatedly. Needless to say some do not appreciate it’s awesomeness. These will be the first I eat as a Zombie King when that fateful days comes.

it could be a fundraising party!! :D you could get local artists to donate art (even if they’re just prints), etc. drink sponsors. the whole shebang. i could help. let me know! i’d seriously love to help you ladies.
my time frame for my winter break isn’t THAT long, but i was involved in a group show this year where we had a fundraising party and made over a grand off of drinks, tips and entry fee which gave the person a raffle ticket for art all the artists donated.

I’ve always thought that Yakety-Sax could always make any situation, no matter how dismal and/or grim, completely hilarious. The 8-bit version may surpass the original…have to try it out next time a bird ends its life on the glass sliding door ( D: ) — And watching that other video…Space Ace and Dragon’s Lair pissed me off to NO END when I was a young’n.

[…] Kode 9 vs LD – Bad EP [Hyperdub]Quarta 330 – Homeless [Hyperdub]Two excellent new releases on Hyperdub – the Kode 9 vs. LD tracks are nice and original, taking a middle ground between funky and dubstep, less sparse and more rhythmic than dubstep, with a nice dancefloor shuffle to them and rolling bass. The A side of the Quarta 330 release has a nice unique sound to it, super sharp rhythms, muffled bass and atari 2600 melodies, although the B side, an 8-bit remix of Cardopusher’s Homeless seems a little pointless, and in fact reminds me too much of this crap 8-bit remix of Slayer […]
