BTC: Virtual Hula Hooping at Siege and KT’s

Mer is incapacitated this morning from too much music-making, so it’s fallen to me to deliver you this segment of Better Than Coffee in her stead. What’s going on in the clip above has been described by photographer and Issue 01 contributor Clayton James Cubitt in the following terms: “Champagne, Wii Fit, Love, Cold NYC Nights, Nerds. In no particular order.” Looking at the clip, I recognize a few faces: Siege himself, his muse KT, Molly Crabapple, Ellen Stagg… the clip may be full of talented hotties, but its true beauty is the dizzy, dorky exuberance. Siege may be a brilliant photographer, but as this clip demonstrates, his video-editing prowess is not to be denied.

They say that how you spend your New Year’s Eve is how the rest of your year will go, and if that’s true, it looks like the folks in this clip are set. Has this belief held true for you? How did you spend your last night of 2008?

    Dear Molly Crabapple,

    Let’s mate.

    <3 from your birthday twin.

  2. Glamourbeastie Says:

Well, last year’s NYE was much fun, and 2008 was a pretty good year as a whole. It’s not a belief I subscribe to, as much as a nagging suspicion.

Thanks for yummy Coilhouse deliciousness in ’08, let’s see you folks have a grand ’09. Cheerio!

“Champagne, Wii Fit, Love, Cold NYC Nights, Nerds” – the tag line to my dream life! My NYE was spent in a mansion by the sea with a group of good friends, so I certainly hope that it will be a reflection of my year to come ;). This video is sheer joy.

  4. Andy Says:

Good video but I wish that theory were true. Last year’s New Year’s Eve was brilliant yet my 2008 set an all time low:( Hope this year goes the right way.

  5. John C. Worsley Says:

    Beautiful video. Lovely, nerdy abandon.

I spent the eve on Mt Tabor, Portland’s Resident Dead Volcano, with a thermos of chai nog spiked with honey liquor. Boom.

  6. glamatron Says:

i miss one new year’s and it’s the one where virtual hula and boobies replace catchphrase?!! wtf? okay, fine. there’s always boobies.

  7. David Forbes Says:

Spent New Year’s Eve pillaging and going wild at a Scottish feast. Should be a good year.

  8. Vivacious G Says:

    That was damn sexy.

  9. Tequila Says:

@Gala…and with that statement thousands of minds are now filled with a gloriously perverse image. One that will no doubt carry them through any of the dark and lonely nights 2009 throws at them.

Ah, Molly Crabapple & Wii Fit!

No words can describe the delirious joy I now feel.

My NYE 08′ was spent drawing. Very low key this year, was in no real mood to celebrate. So if that means 2009 will have me pinned to an art table so be it! :D

  10. R. Says:

I spent my NYE 08 sleeping while my male counterpart was on my computer browsing YouTube and my middle sister was playing Persona 4. I would have rather been spending NYE drinking a 6 pack of Stella Artois in the company of decadent people, but alas it was not meant to be. Though I feel more invigorated then I’ve felt in a long time.

  11. cappy Says:

Stella Artois will give you cancer. Did I mention it’s made by the devil, in Hades, from the tears of cankerous lepers? :P

That said I spent NYE 08 sleeping, as well.

  12. Jerem Morrow Says:

    DaaaHA! Good shite!

Spent it amongst friends and a lover.

  13. gooby Says:

Last year’s NYE I was trying not to be put in jail while hiding a 10 foot exploding robot that I had no explody permit for. This year, the robot was made out of ice instead of ‘spolsions, so the “man” couldn’t complain. He was cute, and sad to watch slowly melt over the course of three days.. We put up a paper moon photo booth for all the guests, I’m still sorting through those pics. It should be a good year now.

    Awesome video!

I spent my last night of 2008/first few hours of 2009 right around the corner from Times Square, shivering my ass off on 47th between 6th and 7th. Then, post ball-droppage (that sounds… suggestive) I walked all over lower Manhattan in search of the Bowery Ballroom, where Amanda Palmer played from 2:30 – 5:30 AM. I made it, and it was fucking awesome. It’s gonna be a bitchin’ year.

Oh, and the sight of Molly Crabapple in the video made me remember that I almost made it to Dr. Sketchy’s that Saturday… but had to leave New York at noon of that day. I am disheartened by that.

Oh what??!! I must have missed this post! And judging from the date, it is indeed plausible since tha 4th was my birthday and I didn’t sleep at home or even return til the 7th :)

But seriously! I was playing WiiFit on New Years! :P We didn’t do the hula, or at least I don’t remember if I did….probably not on account of the amount of alcohol that was in my system haha Yay for Wii! ;)
