Cinematic Trailer for The Beatles: Rock Band

This went up all over the web back in June, but it’s too gorgeous not to be ‘Haused as well:

Directed by Pete Candeland, best known for his Gorillaz music videos. Produced by Passion Pictures. (Via Jhayne, thanks.)

Even if you’re not a fan of the Fab Four, or of Rock Band, you can still appreciate how absolutely breathtaking this animated trailer for the new Xbox game is. (Please, seriously, click that link and watch it high def.)

The Beatles: Rock Band has been in development by Apple Corps for quite a while. Conceived and created by George Harrison’s son, Dhani, in cahoots with MTV prez Van Toffler, and given a stamp of approval by Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and Yoko Ono, it’s slated for a Sept 9th release.

It was one of the highlights of E3…at least for me. It took The Beatles stuff we all know by heart but spun it in such a fresh way that it’s a work of art on its own. Across The Universe wishes it was this creative :P

The only trailer to top this at E3 was the one for Star Wars: The Old Republic which outside of being a fanboy orgasm was also brilliantly executed taking it’s source material to a level that surprised many. It did in 3 minutes what Lucas couldn’t achieve in 3 films.

Bee-yoo-tee-ful! Makes me wish I had time for games – I think I’d really love this one. Then again, I think damaged Jhonen’s RockBand drum kit last time I attempted anything of the sort so maybe it’s for the best. In any case, thank you – I totally full-screened this baby.

Gorgeous. Watched this with my dad today. I think this video skillfully captures their transition from a beloved boy band to something more trippy. Amazing!

Whoa! No drugs needed. I’m not even a Beatles fan, and that blew me away.

Loved it! I’m not a gamer by any means but I am a fan of The Beatles. Suitably trippy and fun.
