Jimmy F and Justin T Hip Hop Medley
You might be wondering what Justin Timberlake, health Jimmy Fallon, and a hip-hop medley are doing here. After all, we live in a world where hip-hop very nearly is the mainstream, right? Two reasons. One: it was not always so. Two: the clip is guaranteed to make you grin, and we care about your grin quota.
[Three: Justin Timberlake is pretty great, in general]
Watch below as JT, together with JF and The Roots, delivers a mini-lesson in the history of American rap, starting with the Sugarhill Gang and ending with Jay-Z. I dare you to watch it just once. Dare!

The girlfriend found this incredibly problematic: Two rich white guys hire a band of exceptionally talented black musicians, and then take you through a tour of (mostly) black music.
I don’t think it’s that big a deal, myself, but it is a little weird, when you think about it.

Tertiary, yep, it is two white guys giving a tour of mostly black music, but it’s clear they’re doing it with reverence, and, in my opinion, they do a great job. Also, it’s incredibly dorky, which makes me like it even more :)

That was amazing! So dorky and adorable. Watched it more than once, couldn’t help myself!

Zo-
That was more or less my feeling. I would probably dislike Justin Timberlake if he wasn’t such a goober, really.

WOW that was freakin awesome!
I’ve been a watching Fallon’s show from time to time since the beginning. The roots are an important part of the show and they’ve (including Fallon) done many songs no matter what “color” the music was. Music is music, everyone has the right to appreciate it no matter what color they are.

I’m no great fan of either but that was a pretty genuine bit of love for the music – so one can’t fault them for that. Grin it made me and that’s enough really.
