For Furry Transgender Lolita, Press 8

By way of Boing Boing Gadgets, this phone is your “your one-stop shop for blackface, cosplay, fur and sex changes”:

Complete with a behind-the-scenes on YouTube.

Now, wouldn’t it be interesting if this ad were actually targeted towards the American audience, and engineered to spread virally through the tried-and-true “check out this weird Japanese shit” method? One ad, millions of hits, and not a single American TV spot booked. Smart, Sony Ericsson. Now we all think your phone is so futuristic. Where’s the model that turns me into a holographic vending machine?

Phone you say? I hadn’t actually noticed a phone.

  2. Erin Says:

Where was the lolita? Your title is misleading!

  3. Nadya Says:

If you merged together some of the looks in this video (the cosplayer vampire, the frou-frou Amadeus and the girl-face at the end), you would wind up with a cute little EGL. The title is about the gestalt feel of the clip’s various tropes.

  4. R. Says:

As people always say “Oh those crazy Japanese and their ads”.

  5. Terra Trouvé Says:

They should tie this in with the upcoming Quantum of Solace film. it could easily be James Bond’s latest gadget.

  6. Jaye Says:

I was especially impressed with the behind-the-scenes videos. When I watched the spot, I assumed all the changes were done with CGI, by morphing or whatever. No, all the changes were accomplished with fairly extensive makeup, including the TG change at the end. Impressive!

    I want the vampire.
