I can’t believe it’s not butterflies

This picture made me hungry! Gazing upon this delicious image I googled “insect recipes” and believe me, friends, the Internet does not disappoint. At eatbug.com you can find a lovingly-compiled list of recipes, including Mealworm Chocolate Chip Cookies, Ant Brood Tacos and more.  This Thanksgiving, surprise your family with a home-prepared meal that they won’t soon forget.

I urge anyone with even a passing interesting to seek out the book, “Man Eating Bugs” which is mentioned on the eatbug site.
I’ve only partaken of “Larvettes”, those prepared mealworms sold at Evolution in NY, and some fried locusts that I bought out of curiosity at a Japanese supermarket.
I’d love to try a cooked tarantula or some giant battered waterbugs.
It is, however, going to take alot more courage than I currently boast to eat one of those enormous fat grubs that plenty of healthy people have no trouble with eating alive and squirming.

I love the model’s calm, happy, engaged look in this photo. It’s not her fault if we don’t understand her context.

I’ve never tried insects. There’s always a first time for everything though. Definitely checking out the eatbug site.

I’m dually disgruntled by lack of availablity of such foodstuffs in my area (Could always order online, ja…) und by ze widely-shared view of such being “gross”. C’mon, anyone know how many insects we eat in our supposedly bug-free food anyway? Haha.

    Beautiful photog work!
