Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Long-Haired Men

Pay no mind to the occasional tumbleweed blowing across you screen, comrades. The three of us are neck-deep in Issue 02 deadlines right now. Come Tuesday or so, postings should pick up again.

Meantime, please enjoy a rare clip of David Bowie speaking on behalf of his fellow nelly boys back in 1964. This was our reigning Preternatural Beauty King‘s first ever television appearance. He was 17 years old.

Aw, darlin’. I’ll carry your handbag any time.

Here’s an even more delectable baby Bowie tidbit, via Siege:

Getting busted for pot with Iggy Pop in NY, 1976.  (Frank Sinatra, eat your heart out.)

And since Halloween draws ever nearer and you’re (hopefully) not at work, there’s one more for the road under the cut…

See you bright and early Monday morning. You bring the coffee, I’ll bring the silly!

No worries…any lull in posts gives one time to explore the past. Quite a lot is worth re-reading. Ah Bowie…easily trumps all the known celebrity mug shots except maybe Nicole Richie’s (she had that whole cute deer in the headlights thing going on…)

Anyone else hope one day that a celebrity gets charged with something really out there like say…cannibalism? How cool would that be?

SO EXCITED FOR ISSUE 02, YOU GUYS!!!!

And that Bowie mugshot? Stroke material indeed…

    Thanks, Miss Mer!

I guess that was the best thing they could march against, eh? In 1964?

Mmm, I ahve a question, I’ve made logged in and told ye computer to remember me and keep me in, but it keeps booting me off.

Much sadness, could someone tell me why?

  4. Mer Says:

Hmm. Not sure, Winominx. We’ll look into it.

  5. Nadya Says:

Winomix, if there are other people who use that computer and clear their internet history, that could be it. If there are no other people who use this computer and you keep getting logged out, I’m really not sure!

    Mmm, nice image of him.

I still have The Hunger on vhs, and that Bauhaus maxi-single is glow-in-the-dark.

Here’s a funny appearance of Iggy Pop and David Bowie on the old Dinah Shore show in 1977, a year after the pot bust.
