Katarzyna Konieczka: Medical Dystopia
Polish designer Katarzyna Konieczka first made an appearance on Coilhouse this past July, but these newer photos of her medical fashion are too wonderfully twisted not to share. Above is a new image of her previously-featured Elephant Man-inspired ensemble, shot by Maciej Boryna. After the jump, two dreamlike masks, photographed by Marcin Twardowski. Definitely one to watch.

Wow. I find it odd that I rarely comprehend the whole “medical fashion” style, especially since I’m disabled and love corsets because they help keep me on my feet.
But I’d love to be able to afford one of her pieces. This speaks to me in a way that a lot of medical fashion doesn’t; it’s not pristine or easy which I think is the draw.
Thank you.

These pieces are stunning. The first is so other-worldly, the second so delicate with the screws just barely hanging in place by the wire. I love her work so much.

Apropros of nothing…props to the Coilhouse crew for recommending the movie “Splice” several months ago. Its been working its way up my Netflix que since then. I just watched it. A grand film, full of imaginative character designs and headcase characters.

Very awesome in a watery and somehow Tetsuo sort of way.
